Mayfest set for Sunday at Rockdale KC Hall The annual St. Joseph’s Mayfest will be held Sunday at the KC Hall with barbecue sale, auctions and prize drawing. It’s sponsored by the church and Knights of Columbus Council 7014. The celebration begin at 11 a.m.

Market on Main set for Saturday Start

The first Market on Main will be held from 8 a.m. to 12-noon Saturday at the I&GN Depot-Museum. Markets continue every Saturday through October.

Teens arrested on drug charges

POLICE REPORT Rockdale Police said alert action by school officials led to the arrests of two teenagers on the Rockdale High School campus during the past week. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police were called April 24 after a 15-year-old male was observed “extremely impaired” and “under the influence.

ONE OF FOUR—

Rockdale Police investigated four traffic accidents during the past week including this one in the 2300 block of West Cameron Avenue (US 79) at 8:02 a.m. Friday. Drivers were listed as Melissa Rogers and Jonathan Ellis, both of Rockdale. Vehicle damages were termed moderate to extensive.

Arrest in Cameron clears cases

SHERIFF’S REPORT Authorities believe a Friday arrest in Cameron has cleared cases in Milam and Falls Counties. Police responded to a report of a subject waving a gun on East 19th Street and arrested 32-year-old Luis Sarinana of Temple after a struggle.

Crop program extended by USDA until May 17

The U. S. Agriculture Department has extended the deadline from May 1 to May 17 for agricultural producers to certify 2018 crop production for payments through the Market Facilitation Program (MFP), according to Kevin Humphrey of the Milam County Farm Service Agency I(FDA) office.

Fair Park had some special visitors over the weekend and it was hard to miss them. The South Texas Longhorn Association brought its annual April Show to the park and there was competition in three youth and one open-haltered show.

A DAY IN THE PARK—

ten students had their own “Earth Day” observance in Veterans Memorial Park Wednesday morning. The day in the park included a visit from the Rockdale Police Department and volunteers Janice King and Carolyn Stone shared their knowledge of plants. There was also plenty of time for play.
