—The heavy rainfall preceding and during the 2018 Rockdale Fair is gone but not forgotten. City Manager Chris Whittaker said the city will take a look at damage from the rains which also affected city roads around the park.

Deadline is Nov. 11th for ranch scholarships

THORNDALE—Deadline is Nov. 11 to submit essays to win one of 30 scholarships to Star Creek Ranch, a nondenominational church camp near Van, Texas. Thirty scholarships will be awarded, according to Richard Schneider, spokesman.

Benefi t for Roxli set at KC Hall

QUICK LOOK A benefit to defray expenses for an 11-year-old girl diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer is set for Sunday at the KC Hall. Roxli Doss is the daughter of Scott and Gena Doss and granddaughter of James and Denice Doss. It begins at 11 a.m.

2018 Fair: A flood of support

At least they didn’t have to wet down Fair Park to keep the dust away this year. It wasn’t the lack of water, but too much of it, which caused problems at the 2018 Rockdale Fair.

Rockdale eyes part of ‘Harvey’ funding

Milam County has been approved for more than $1.8-million in aid from Hurricane Harvey disaster relief funds and City Manager Chris Whittaker is hoping some of it can be used to help correct some of Rockdale’s chronic flooding problem.

Early voting pace heavy

Early voting continues this week at four Milam locations in the Nov. 6 general election. A total of 1,749 voted early through Tuesday afternoon, the first two days of early balloting. SATURDAY—There’s a Saturday early voting session coming up this weekend but only at one location.

Jennifer Garza (R) was crowned 2018 Rockdale High School Homecoming Queen during the Rock-dale-Troy game at Tiger Field on Friday night. The RHS senior is the daughter of Mark Mendez and Shelley Ortiz and was escorted by her mother.
