TAYLOR—Margaret (Peggy) Alice Smith was born on Sunday, April 27, 1941, to Margaret Bond Smith and Fletcher Lamar Smith. Peggy was the seventh generation of her family to be born in south Texas. She was raised by her two loving grandmothers, Mimi and Ada, and grew up the “baby” of the family.

CAMERON—Betty Gene Burnett, 94, of Cameron died Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, in a Cameron nursing and rehabilitation center. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 12, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.

Diane Joyce Ernst Cuba, 65, of Fort Worth died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, in Fort Worth. A funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 12, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Gary Hewer of First Christian Church in Lexington officiating.

Roy Lee Perrard, 81, of Rockdale passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, in Round Rock. He went peacefully to his eternal resting place surrounded by his family.

Sandra Lou Richards died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, at Western Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Temple. Services are set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Burial will be at New Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Owen

Grant George Owen, born Dec. 12, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, died peacefully at his home in Rockdale surrounded by family on Saturday, Aug. 6. Visitation begins at 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Sun day, Aug. 21, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale.

Jennifer Maria Valdez died unexpectedly at her home in Rockdale on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022. Ms. Valdez was born June 30, 1977, in Lamesa to her parents, Jesus Valdez Sr. and mother Refugia Torres. She returned to school and earned her GED in early 2000.

TAYLOR—Johnny A. Juarez, 78, of Taylor died peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at Ascen sion Seton in Round Rock.

Rodney Alan Hill, 56, of Rockdale died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, in Taylor. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Phil lips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Visitation will be on Saturday, starting at 2 p.m. until service time.
