Sheriff White seeking new term in 2020

Milam County Sheriff Chris White will seek a new term next year. It would be the first full term for White, who was appointed sheriff after the death of David Greene in 2018. White, a Republican, formally announced his candidacy Tuesday and said he will file in the 2020 GOP Primary.

Junkyard owner indicted second time

For the second time, a Rockdale man already convicted of keeping a junkyard has been indicted for bail jumping-failure to appear by a Milam County Grand Jury. Prosecutor Bill Torrey said Ira Richard “Richie” Thrasher, 43, was one of 43 persons indicted on Thursday.

Drug charge filed after meth bag dropped in store

POLICE REPORT A bag dropped in a Rock-dale convenience store last week resulted in the arrest of a Thorndale woman. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said the bag contained methamphetamine.
