RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, 10 a.m.-noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

A Swift look through history

BLACK HISTORY MONTH Many in Rockdale know Dr. Leroy Victor Swift as the former pastor of the Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Gause or as the kid from Two Mile Community whose father was saved in the 1913 flood by Rockdale resident Walter Seuss.

Piper’s 42nd series starts next week

MIGRATION IN CENTRAL TEXAS “Migration in Central Texas,” the 42nd consecutive Black History Month series by Susie Sansom-Piper in The Reporter, will begin next week. Mrs. Piper said Black Migration is the theme for this year’s Black History Month, which is observed each February.
