RHS Band members win honors at contest

SMITHVILLE—Nineteen members of the Rockdale High School Big Blue Band received medals at the recent UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest, held at Smithville High School. STATEBOUND—One RHS band member will head to the state contest later this spring.

FFA project

Rockdale High School’s Future Farmers of America chapter students constructed this octagonal=shaped metal and wood table and entered it in the San Antonio Livestock Exposition’s Junior Agricultural Mechanics project show. The entry placed fifth and was sold to a San Antonio-area business for $4,450.

Lions Pancake Supper ahead Tuesday at park The 19th annual Rockdale Noon Lions Club’s Pancake & Bacon Supper is set for Tuesday in the New Salem Clubhouse at Fair Park. Hours are 5 to 7 p.m., price for adults is $8 per plate, $5 for children 6 to 12 and children 5 and under eat free.

CHAMBER CHAT There are lots of happenings in Rockdale this spring. Ginno’s Italian Restaurant is our “Business in the Spotlight” this month. Ginno’s has been in Rock-dale for two years and has now opened a bar at their restaurant to enhance their dinner menu. Ginno’s is located at 1200 W.

Consumer teams win at SA contest

MILAM 4-H NEWS Milam County 4-H coaches took 37 youth to the San Antonio Stock Show Consumer Decision Making Contest recently. The youth did a fabulous job and all kids worked very hard. Milam’s Marisol Hill won first place among 116 entries in the individual intermediate competition.
