Cooking food over an open flame tends to produce unique flavors. But some people may avoid grilling certain foods because of the perceived difficulty of creating that distinctive grilled flavor. One such food is chicken.

The crowd of about 80 attending the annual Rock-dale Homecoming had some serious business to decide Sunday in the Patterson Center. Whether to keep the 84-year-old event going.

VFDs, Child Welfare get money in seizure

CAMERON—The largest cash seizure in Milam County history has resulted in donations to 10 volunteer fire departments and the Milam County Child Welfare Board. A total of $831,000 in cash was seized March 26 in a traffic stop.

Thorndale BBQ Cookoff scheduled June 22-23

THORNDALE—The 28th annual Thorndale Barbecue Cookoff will unreel Friday and Saturday, June 22-23 with cooking, dances, a softball tourney, arts and crafts and more.
