SPRING BIKE WINNERS—Milano Parents Club awarded four bikes to Milano Elementary students last week. Students’ names were put into a drawing based on making the honor roll throughout the spring semester. Winners were (L-R) Jac Chrisman, Miranda Balderas, Christian Reyes and Hannah Bakken.

RHS Class of 1948 sets reunion Saturday RHS Class of 1948 is planning its 70th class reunion for Saturday, June 2 at Ginno’s Restaurant, 1200 W. Cameron Ave., Rockdale. It will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch at 1 p.m. “We invite any friends to drop by and visit,” said Gerry Offield, spokesperson.

Employees honored for service to school

A number of Rockdale ISD employees were honored for years of service to the school, along with 2017-2018 perfect attendance, in a recent reception at the junior-high commons. They were listed as follows: 30 years—Angela White. 25 years—Lorrie Birkhead, Betty Headrick, Belinda Von Gonten.

RHS scholarships total $432,867

Rockdale High School graduating seniors picked up $432,867 in scholarships in the annual RHS Awards Ceremony in the high school gym. Lyndy Laurrell picked up $72,000 and $43,464 scholarships to Southwestern University.

RJH promotion Thursday for 104 ‘freshmen to be’

Mallory McDaniel is the valedictorian and Cady Barcak salutatorian of the 104-member Rockdale Junior-High School eighth-grade class of 2018. Promotion exercises are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in the junior-high gym. McDaniel is the daughter of Chuck and Sharon McDaniel. She compiled a 4.
