‘THANKS FOR THE HELP’

The City of Rockdale recently presented an appreciation certificate to Dusty Albright. City Manager Chris Whittaker, who presented the award, said Albright assisted with gravel work to help repair a portion of Beverly Drive.

Buddy Poppies and the “white table” Missing in Action ceremony held each Memorial Day, Rockdale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6525 and auxiliary members keep hearing those questions. So the Auxiliary has done something about it.

OUTSTANDING GARDENER

Little River Basin Master Gardner (LRBMG) Anne Barr (L) received the first place Outstanding Individual Search for Excellence Award at the Texas Master Gardener Association annual state conference in College Station this spring. With her is LRBMG president Cheryl Walker.

Randall Brown (third from left) who is legally blind, needed a $15,000 e-sight device to boost his vision to 20/20. Rockdale Noon Lions Club, together with Lions Club International District 2-S3 Charities Alert Program has donated $1,000 toward the effort.

PROJECT GRAD BACKERS

PROJECT GRAD BACKERS—The New Salem EEA Club donated $200 to the 2018 Rockdale High School Project Graduation, which was held overnight Friday-Saturday at Grand Central Station in College Station with about 80 seniors attending. That number does not include their dates.

Rockdale’s ‘Roaring 20s’ alive and well

If you remember the late Nolan Bland’s model of Rockdale in 1928 and wondered what happened to it. Don’t worry. It’s being well taken care of and looks better than ever. Bland, who spent thousands of hours crafting, and researching, the model, pegged the date at 1928.
