Master Naturalists classes continue

Texas Master Naturalist Courses began on Jan. 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Cameron. “If you are passionate about native Texas plants and animals you are welcome to joins us,” said organizer Linda Burgess.

DONATION

The local Three Missions Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution received a grant which enabled the organization to purchase and donate books to the children's section of both the Cameron and Rockdale libraries.

NEW PARKING LOT

Alpha Tau Delta (ATD) Service Sorority donated $1,000 to Rockdale Christian Services Food Pantry to help the organization build a new parking lot so they can be open more days during the week.

Heavy truths

You are Christ’s protégé

Some of you, as I, have memories of church plays. For many Easters, men of my home church would pose to re-enact DaVinci’s masterpiece, The Last Supper. One year the youth group, under the direction of my mom, performed a stage play of the last week of Jesus’ life.

Ponnaiya takes first place in Fort Worth

Graduating Rockdale High School senior Jason Ponnaiya won first place in the senior division at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Plant ID Contest which was held on Jan. 25. Ponnaiya also won a $4,000 scholarship for the second year in a row.

In 4-H, the 4-H youth are asked to lead and coordinate service projects in their clubs and county wide which helps them with 4-H recordbooks, awards and eventually scholarships.

Rice and things to serve over it

Ilove rice, but it's not something I'm supposed to be eating. At least the white kind. Thankfully, I am a fan of brown rice after finding this easy recipe.
