San Gabriel Christian Church celebrates 100th anniversary

San Gabr iel Chr istian Church is the oldest congregation in Milam County. An EF-0 tornado ripped through Milam County on April 6, 2019 with winds up to 85 miles per hour, taking off the roof of the church and causing extensive damage.

San Gabr iel Bapt ist church will host a gospel singing on Saturday, June 29. The evening will feature congregational singing as well as solos and other special music. Singing will begin at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Shrimp salad, grilled chicken

We had a shrimp boil on Mother's Day, and I didn't want shrimp for a while, but now I am ready to have it again. This is a shrimp salad which has the zest and juice of an orange instead of the normal lemon, which I think sounds pretty good. If you don't, use lemon.

Olivares joins Carlyle Post 358

On Monday night at the regular monthly meeting of the American Legion Carlyle Post 358, Midshipman Tatiana Olivares was unanimously voted in as their newest and youngest-ever member at age 19. The post celebrated her achievements as their own.

Camp FriYAY set for June 28

We will have our 4-H Day Camp on June 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. called FriYAY 4-H Day Camp. Cloverbuds will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In the morning, activities will be geared toward Cloverbuds (K-second) and then the afternoon will be geared for the older kids, third grade to 12th grade.
