ORGANIZATIONS

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to l p.m. Lunch is provided. Heavenly Treasures September Specials Fall and Halloween decor will be on sale during September. Hours are 9 a.m.

THURSDAY’S TIGERS

These Tigers showed up and showed off Thursday night against the visiting Lexington Eagles. The Tigers won the game with a final score, Rockdale 38, Eagles 24. Tiger Juan Sa lcedo picked up a loose ball on the Eagles’ opening drive to set the pace of the game.

HAPPY RETIREMENT

Della Grlmaldo was all smiles at a party thrown for her at Walmart for her retirement after 30 years with the company.

10-20-40-100 YEARS AGO 100 YEARS AGO… The Rockdale mattress factory, occupying a frame store building near the Sap Depot, and the frame store building adjoining and occupied by J.C. Dekle as a residence, were both destroyed by fire.

PA award winner has Rockdale ties

ABILENE—Dr. Jennifer Weems Eames, a professor for the Physician Assistant (PA) program at Hardin- Simmons University and a clinically practicing PA for the Department of Veterans Affairs Clinical Resource Hub in Abilene, has been awarded the 2023 PA Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Sauls, Boltodano receive honors at RHS

Students at Rockdale High School earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. These programs celebrate students' hard work in high school and showcase their strong academic performance.

Rockdale Walmart names Coronado new store manager

Carl Coronado has been with the Walmart Corporation for six years and st a r ted hi s career in San Antonio before moving to a store in Lubbock. Coronado has been married to his wife of 19 years, Grace, and they have three boys Elijah, 19, Malachi, 17 and Jayden 14.

Community center hosting ‘42’ players

If you like playing 42 you are invited to the Milano Community Center on Mondays 6 to 9 p.m. Go do something that makes Monday a fun day!
