There is a story making the rounds concerning Robert Hightower of Queens, New York who realized a lifelong dream in April, 1953. He went to the Masters Tournament in Augusta. His hero, Ben Hogan, played for the championship and won with a 14 under par, 274 score.
New Years is probably one of my favorite holidays or times of the year. The reason I have this bromance with the New Year is well, who doesn’t like “new.” New year, new car, new job, new surfboard, new pair of running shoes. New is always good, right?! How about a new attitude? Would that be helpful in 2023?
Murray Street Church of Christ held their annual lock-in on New Year’s Eve for the youth members of their church. This year they had 20 kids participating. They enjoyed lots of good food, bible lessons, games all night long and sparklers at midnight.
Whether you’re going on a New Year’s diet or not, here are some recipes we can all enjoy. The first one up is from Ina Garten. She uses a lot of horseradish in her cocktail sauce but that can be adjusted to taste. I don’t think it needs hot sauce but suit yourselves.
We live close to a small community where my dad pastored a church a million years ago. After my family moved away the church building burned down and they relocated across town but eventually the church disbanded.
