Rockdale Earth Day Garden Tour

First Presbyterian Church’s meditation garden was a tranquil stop. Bob and Cathy Slobod’s back garden at 818 Francine was a hit with attendees. Ward and Kathryne Roddam’s backyard garden and pool drew plenty of visitors. Dr. John Mike Weed and Jeanie Weed’s beautiful yard is a favorite for photos.  

STATEMENT HAT DAY

The Senior Citizen Center on Green Street decided to celebrate Mother’s Day on Friday with a special hat theme. The men were not to be outdone and also donned their finest.

Gause Methodist VBS set for June 2-4

It’s a very dreary Monday morning. I do better when I can see sunshine. Gause Methodist Church will have Vacation Bible School from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. June 2-4. There is no cost for those who attend.

Rockdale High School hosts band solo, ensemble contest

Director of Bands Adrian Acevedo and Assistant Band Director Roberto Palomino hosted the Rockdale Solo and Ensemble Contest at RHS. They took 55 junior high soloists and four junior high ensembles. Three soloists received Excellent ratings and 52 soloists received a Superior rating.

END OF YEAR PARTY

—Members of the Thursday Reading Club celebrated the end of the year of books, programs and fun with a wine and cheese party at the home of Patricia McKee. Other hostesses were members of the yearbook committee Chair Barbara Nelson and Wendie Upson.

Greg Laurie is a pastor and evangelist out of California. I saw he is preaching a new sermon series: End Times, Living Like Jesus Will Return Any Moment. Things To Do Before The End Of The World. I don’t know anything about the sermon but that is some title, and it makes you think!
