Josie Lee Boswell, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Nov. 1, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on July 18, 1935, in Rockdale to Dorothy and Fritz Bauer. On Nov. 23, 1956, Josie married the love of her life, Thomas at the First Christian Church in Taylor.

Cavazos

John Cavazos, 77, or Rockdale died Tuesday, Sept. 16. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at San Gabriel Evangelic Christian Church, 3394 N. FM 486, Thorndale, wi th Pasto r Jimmy Hinistroza officiating. John was born Oct. 14, 1947, to Jose and Celica Cavazos.

Mora

Sergio “Shorty” Mireles Mora was born in Mexico City to Rita and Jose Mireles. He was the second of nine kids. He came to the U.S. when he was 17. He worked at brick laying for Jody Peel in Br y an and was a steel erector for Perry & Perry Builders for 14 years in Rockdale.

Reaves

Lawayne Ponzell Shirley Reaves of Rockdale was born Sept. 14, 1950, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to parents Ted Shir ley and Miner va Perkins Shirley. She departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025.

McLerran Funeral services for Judy Kay Black McLerran were held on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at Phillips & Lucke y F u ne r al Home in Rockdale. The burial was at IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale. Pastor Terry Skinner formerly of Calvary Baptist Church of Fairfield officiated.

Daphanie Spiers, 34, passed away on Oct. 20, 2025. She was born in Rockdale and spent most of her life there and in the surrounding rural towns.
