CAMERON—Stephen Michael “Steve” Simecek, 62, of Cameron died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, in a Houston hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 17, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Father Tom Chamberlin officiating. Burial followed at St. Monica’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Vargas died Sunday, Aug. 11, at her home near Rockdale. She was born Dec. 11, 1944, in Pearsall to Ricardo and Patricia (Hernandez) Vargas. She married Nestor S. Vargas on April 15, 1960, in Crystal City. They moved to Rockdale and she had been a Rockdale resident for the past 30 years. Mrs.
