Boyd wins bronze, second trip to state

GOLF Whitley Boyd weathered a three-hour rain delay and opponents to win her second straight trip to the UIL Class 3A girls golf state championship, after placing third among individual medalists at the Region III golf tournament last Thursday in Brenham.

Alvie King retires after 20 years

King of basketball Long time basketball coach Alvie King will retire from the Milano Independent School District at the close of the 2018-2019 school year after more than 20 years with the school. King, who grew up in Milano, says being a part of MISD is something he has held in high regard.

Athletes honored at annual spring athletic banquet

The Rockdale High School Spring Athletic Banquet concluded with Reyna Gonzales named Outstanding Female Athlete and Will Storey and Zac Davis named as Co-Oustanding Male Athletes. Other athletes honored were Doss Hasselbach and Macy Knesek, who both-won the sportsman award.

Volleyball ranger

The Milano Eagle track team won their third straight UIL Region IV Class 2A championship at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville on Friday and Saturday with six first place finishes and two second place finishes.
