Tigers dog McGregor 11-3 in cold opener

In their first district contest, the Rockdale Tigers took down McGregor 11-3 at Tiger Field on Tuesday in 38-degree weather. RISD administrators decided to move the game from 6 p.m. to 5 due to low temperatures expected to drop as the night grew older.

Gonzalez, Whitsel play four matches to win Taylor Tournament

Reyna Gonzalez and Devon Whitsel brought home the gold at the Taylor Tournament this past weekend having only played in eight matches the entire 2019 tennis season. Four of those matches were played last Friday, in cloudy, 52-degree weather.

Lady Tigers golfers battled opponents, weather in tourney

The Rockdale Lady Tiger golf team finished sixth out of 22 schools on Thursday at the Brenham Country Club where they battled forty degree weather in addition to rival Cameron and more than a dozen 5A and 6A schools.

Bulldogs season ends 42-40 to Port Aransas

The Thorndale Bulldogs ended their season with a 42-40 loss to Port Aransas at the Class 2A Region IIII Semi-finals on Friday at San Marcos High School, missing out on a chance to make it to the UIL Class 2A state championship for the fourth straight year.

Lady Tigers grab all-district honors Seven Lady Tiger hoopsters were awarded District 19-3A honors for this season. Sophomore Anna Harmon was named to the first team and Andrea Salazar made the second team. Honorable mentions from RHS were Payton Miller and Miah Beckwith.

Relays bring 16 schools to town this weekend

Since the turn of the 20th Century, the Rockdale Relays have been bringing top notch athletes to the area to compete. This year’s Rockdale track and field team will play host to the 60th Rockdale Relays at the new Tiger Stadium on Friday and the competition is just as stiff as in years past.

Lady Tigers christen new softball field with a victory
