The house is quiet today. I’m a germaphobe and have not been sick in a million years (the result of hand washing). I mean I have not had a cold or a sniffle but Friday night the Grim Reaper came for a weekend visit.
Rehearsals are complete for “Shrek the Musical,” the latest production of Milam Community Theater. It will be staged the next two weekends at the C. H. Yoe High School Center for the Performing Arts.

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center held its annual Casino Night Saturday at The Ranch and raised about $12,000. Chamber volunteers who helped stage the event included (L-R) Charlie Watson, Betty Backhaus and Janice King. Also see page 2A.
Maci Key and Maurice Azubuike announce the birth of their daughter, Paris Evette, born on June 14, weighing 7.37 pounds and measuring 20 inches. Grandparents are Donal Key, Lori Key, Friday and Patricia Azubuike, all of Arlington.
It was a warm spring evening in the city of Jerusalem. Two men were engaged in serious conversation. Nicodemus had come, secretly at night, to talk with Jesus whom he had come to revere as “a teacher come from God.”
Here was a ruler of the Jews, respected and held in high esteem by his community.
God has called us to deep East Texas. Over the last eight years or so it has become a #happy-place for us—a place for us to escape, and now it will become a home place.
We are excited because it’s a God-Thing but we are reconciling feelings of leaving home, again.
