Several members of the Rockdale Tiger football team were named to the 3A-Division I District 11 All-District teams.

Tiger JV win one, lose one

The Tigers have kicked off their season with a solid start as they are 1-1 on the season. Before Thanksgiving break, the young Tigers went to battle against the JV Milano Eagles. The Tigers were victorious against the Eagles 49-35. Chris Miles Jr. led the Tigers in scoring with 18 points.

Lady Tigers fall to Lady Panthers

On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers traveled to Normangee to face off against a tough Lady Panthers team. They were defeated 52-27. Julie Bartsch was the top performer in the contest with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and one block.

Thorndale Boys – The Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season as the fell short to the IA No. 3 ranked Calvert Cavaliers 59-40. Blake Roberts led the Bulldogs in scoring with 11 points.

Former Cameron star football player drowns

Milam Country is grieving after former Cameron Yoe running back Traion Smith drowned in a fishing accident Sunday. Smith, 22, of Cameron, died after the small boat he was fishing in with Desmond Williams, 30, of Temple overturned, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
