On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers traveled to Normangee to face off against a tough Lady Panthers team. They were defeated 52-27. Julie Bartsch was the top performer in the contest with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and one block.

Former Cameron star football player drowns

Milam Country is grieving after former Cameron Yoe running back Traion Smith drowned in a fishing accident Sunday. Smith, 22, of Cameron, died after the small boat he was fishing in with Desmond Williams, 30, of Temple overturned, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Lady Tigers earned their first win of the season on Saturday as they defeated the Milano Lady Eagles 52-27. Karli Marburger led the Lady Tigers with 12 points. Other top scorers included D’Erika Hurd 10, Ciara Miles 7, Miah Beckwith 6 and Julie Bartsch 6.

Bocanegra places 78th at Class 3A state meet

RHS Freshman Jesus Bocanegra’s stellar season came to a close on Monday as he participated in the Cross Country 3A State Meet. He finished 78th with a time of 17:36 in a five kilometer run. “Competing in state as a freshman was a fun experience,” Bocanegra said.

JV Lady Tigers defeat Lady Eagles

The JV Lady Tigers won their first game on Saturday as they were victorious against the Milano JV Lady Eagles 29-7. Breanna Webb led the Lady Tigers with 15 points. Other top scorers included Alyssa Thompson 4, McKenna Lopez 4 and Autumn Strelsky 4.

Milano spikers named to All-District teams

Several members of the Lady Eagles Volleyball team were named to the 2A District 25 All-District Teams. McKenna Robertson was named to the all-district first team on Thursday. “McKenna was the only returning player from the varsity,” MHS Head Coach and Athletic Director Wendy King said.
