On Saturday morning, Rockdale High School’s softball team opened their 2021 season in a scrimmage with Holland, marking the first time the Lady Tigers have stepped on a field to face an opponent since March 11.
Facing 8-2 Rogers for the second time this season wasn’t much easier than the first time they faced them when the wrong RHS won 51-24 on Jan. 5, in Rockdale.
This time on the road, the Lady Tigers lost 51-34. Sophomores Saige Robertson and Julie Bartsch led with 10 and nine points respectively.
Last Thursday after the school bells rang, Thorndale High School hosted their first ever powerlifting meet when athletes from Rockdale, Thorndale and Thrall competed in the THS Tri-Meet.
“Powerlifting is pretty new for us,” said THS athletic director John Kovar.
Milano, Thorndale teams eye playoffs around the corner
Last Friday, the Milano Eagles battled with Hearne, the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 22nd-ranked team in Class 2A, and fell 64-54 in a game that was tied during the third quarter.
Jayce Todd led with 20 and Layne Telg had 13.
MHS also lost in Thorndale last Tuesday 46-35.
