Another Texas high school football season reaches an end

The 2025 Texas high school football season concluded this weekend with the state championship games played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. One particular school that got my attention this year was the Carthage Bulldogs and their coach Scott Surratt.

FAIR. Water stained; 60 degrees; 0.49 feet above pool. Black bass are slow. Crappie are slow. White bass are fair up the river near the primitive campground. Blue catfish are good on jug lines baited with shad or Zote soap. Yellow catfish are fair on live bait.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Thorndale Bulldogs and Lady Dogs basketball teams picked up home wins Friday before taking their Christmas break. The Lady Dogs won district game against the Milano Lady Eagles, 47-18, while the Bulldogs came out on top of Northeast, 71-37.

Four Lady Dog volleyballers named Academic All-State

The Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) named four Thorndale Lady Bulldog volleyball players to the TGCA Academic All-State Team. Earning recognition were Kyla Daniell, Allyson Gerren, Katelynn Zrubek and Jordyn Stutts (support staff).

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Rockdale Lady Tigers basketball team participated in the Smithville Tournament last week. They went 2-4 in the tourney. STANDOUTS— Top Performers for the Lady Tigers were Trinity Hurd, Reginay Hamilton, and Grace Patton.

Rockdale grad Donald Hatcher is the head football coach for the Anderson High Trojans in Aus t in. S inc e t a king over the program in 2022, it has made some great strides forward.

Meadors honored as Defensive MVP; numerous Bulldogs named All-District

The District 14-2A Division I All-District football team was released with a considerable number of Thorndale Bulldogs on the list. Linebacker Kale Meadors was chosen as the Defensive MVP in the district.

THIRD— Saturday in Granger, the Milano Lady Eagles basketball team defeated Bruceville- Eddy, 30–8, to take third place in the Bronze Bracket at the Granger Holiday Classic Tournament. Milano High School photo

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

TOURNEY PLAY— The Thorndale Bulldog and Lady Bulldog teams all competed in basketball tournaments last week. The Bulldogs varsity and JV teams claimed first places, while the Lady Dogs claimed a fourth place finish.

Five Lady Dogs receive TGCA All-State honors in cross country

The Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) named five Thorndale Lady Bulldog cross country members to the TGCA All-State Teams.
