Dove hunting prospects bright for season opener

AUSTIN — Opening day of dove hunting is Saturday, Sept. 1 statewide. For the third consecutive year, Texas dove hunters can look forward to a liberal 90-day season and 15-bird daily bag limits. Hunters are reminded that licenses went on sale Aug.

Busy weekend for the Lady Eagles

The Milano Lady Eagles volleyball team played in the Anderson-Shiro Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 23, and Saturday, Aug. 25 and hosted the Bremond Lady Tigers at the Geneva Paceley Gym in Milano on Friday evening. The Lady Eagles lost two of their three matches on Thursday.

Game Warden Field Notes: Easy trail to follow

Usually, game wardens have few clues to go on when they discover deer remains dumped alongside a road. A recently wrapped up investigation in Live Oak County gave them an easy trail to follow. Last September, wardens were made aware of several deer carcasses and other items dumped in a bar ditch.
