39th annual Rockdale Open July 11-15

The 39th edition of the Rockdale Tennis Open is scheduled for July 11-15 at the Veterans Memorial Park tennis courts. The youth portion of the tournament will be held July 11-12 and features seven separate categories for players aged 10 through 18, including singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Laurrell changes gears to Div. I SFA

Lyndy Laurrell is now a Division I golfer. The two-time state champion was scheduled to play at Southwestern University in Georgetown, but a late offer from Stephen F. Austin has her shifting gears.

Miller named top coach again

With football season right around the corner, Rockdale’s 2017 run to a state championship is still garnering attention. Rockdale head coach Jeff Miller was selected the coach of the year by Lone Star Gridiron. Miller was one of three nominees for the honor, which included Class 3A.

Noel named new offensive coordinator

Jeff Miller has named Ethan Noel as the Tigers’ new offensive coordinator. Noel replaces Brandon Houston who left to become the new head coach at Buffalo. Noel has never been a coordinator before and has been at Rockdale for three years after coming over from Academy.
