The Lady Tigers lost their first 3A III 19 district match of the season to the Lexington Lady Eagles 23-25, 22-25, 25-14, 18-25. “We just didn’t connect as a team on Friday, and it showed,” said Jennifer Keen, Rockdale High School Head Volleyball Coach.

Rockdale junior high boys team wins Caldwell tourney

The Rockdale Junior High boy’s cross country team placed first at the Caldwell meet on Saturday, Sept. 15, and had many racers place in the top 25 of their respective divisions. “We took home several individual medals against some very large schools,” said Coach Cheryl Darby.

Bulldogs outrun Longhorns 36-8

The Bulldogs put on a scoring exposition Friday at Ellison Field in Axtell during their 36-8 contest against the Longhorns. “After giving up a long touchdown on the second play of the game, we shut them out after that,” said Head Coach Scott Hawkins.

Lady Bulldogs improve district record to 3-1 with two victories

The Lady Bulldogs got two shutouts and their second and third 25-2A district wins this week against the Holland Lady Hornets and the Bartlett Lassies. In their most recent match on Saturday, Sept. 15, The Lady Bulldogs swept the Lady Hornets, 25-16, 25-19,25-12 in Holland.

Thorndale runners challenged in Gatesville

Thorndale Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs cross country teams ran at the Gates-ville meet Thursday, Sept. 13. Running in the 1A-4A races, the teams competed against larger schools such as Lampasas, Waco-Conally, China Spring, and Bur-net.

Signup for Oct. 6 Lions golf scramble is still open

Rockdale Noon Lions Club will hold its 28th annual Scholarship Scramble Golf Tournament at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at the country club. Proceeds will go to the Lions’ scholarship fund. Allen Sanders, chairman, said the format will be men’s and women’s scramble with teams grouped by handicap.

Eagles take out the Tigers for second year in a row

After ending Bremond’s 49-game winning streak last season, the Milano Eagles defeated the Tigers again 25-22 in Bremond. The Eagles forced five fumbles and ran for 174 yards. “We played pretty good offense,” said Chad Lagrone, Milano High School head football coach.
