RHS XC opts out of meet, prepares for Cameron race

The Rockdale High School cross country team pulled out of the McGregor Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 22. “We would have had to leave at 5 a.m., and there was a 100 percent chance of rain at the time,” said Cheryl Darby, head cross country coach said. “So pulled out of the meet.

Combined RJH ‘B’ team loses to Bellville in Milano

Like many football games in Texas this week, Rock-dale’s seventh and eighth grade “A” teams were forced to cancel their games due to bad weather. But Rockdale’s combined “B” teams were able to play their scheduled game against Bellville’s “B” team in Milano, losing 14-6 to the Brahmas.

Cheerleading camp Thursday at RHS RHS cheerleading mini-camp is scheduled for Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Cheerleaders ages pre-K through fifth grade can register when doors open at 5:30 p.m. at RHS gym. Cost for the camp is $25. Checks can be made out to the RHS Varsity Cheer.

Milano XC team runs in Salado, Brenham meets

Milano cross country runners competed in the Salado Tenroc Cross Country Invitational last Thursday: 197. Andy Gutierrez ran the 5K in 23:01 and 103. Abby Miller ran the two mile in 16:56.

Rockdale JV D holds Panthers to six points

The Rockdale junior varsity defeated the Hyde Park Panthers 24-6 Thursday in Austin. The Tigers got a lot on the board fast with two Bryce Miller touchdown runs in the first quarter. The first was for 10 yards, and the second was for 12.

Texas reservoir restoration workshop set for Oct. 6-7

AUSTIN – Organizations interested in becoming partners on habitat restoration projects in their local lakes can pre-register for the Friends of Reservoirs 9th Annual Reservoir Fisheries Habitat Partnership Meeting, Oct. 6-7 at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens.

Bulldog XC places in race, prepares for home tourney

Multiple Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs placed among the top 50 in their respective races during last Thursday’s Salado Tenroc Cross Country Invitational. Thorndale runners competed against some of the most reputable cross ountry programs in Central Texas.

CHEERING FOR A CURE

—Rockdale High School Varsity Cheerleaders sold gold ribbons during the recent “Gold Out” observation to raise money for childhood cancer research. The team raised $400 and donated the funds to Teaming Up For a Cure.
