Lady Tigers are 2-2 in district, Rogers is next on the schedule

The Rockdale Lady Tigers fell on the road to the Little River-Academy Lady Bees 22-25, 13-25, 17-25 during 19-3A district play. “There is no way to sugar coat the evening,” Rock-dale High School Head Volleyball Coach Jennifer Keen said. “We just didn’t show up to play.

Milam County matchup

In a near repeat of last year’s matchup, the Thorn-dale Lady Bulldogs defeated the Milano Lady Eagles 13-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 on Saturday at the Geneva Paceley Gym in Milano. The two teams battled it out last year and Thorndale took the game in four sets to become co-district champions.

Weather stops Bulldogs game

Seconds after a 12-yard kickoff return by Dawson junior Jakoby Moore, lightning bolts within sight forced officials to cancel the contest between the Thorndale and Dawson. The Bulldogs concluded pre-season play undefeated, with a 2-0 record.

RHS XC opts out of meet, prepares for Cameron race

The Rockdale High School cross country team pulled out of the McGregor Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 22. “We would have had to leave at 5 a.m., and there was a 100 percent chance of rain at the time,” said Cheryl Darby, head cross country coach said. “So pulled out of the meet.

Combined RJH ‘B’ team loses to Bellville in Milano

Like many football games in Texas this week, Rock-dale’s seventh and eighth grade “A” teams were forced to cancel their games due to bad weather. But Rockdale’s combined “B” teams were able to play their scheduled game against Bellville’s “B” team in Milano, losing 14-6 to the Brahmas.

Cheerleading camp Thursday at RHS RHS cheerleading mini-camp is scheduled for Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Cheerleaders ages pre-K through fifth grade can register when doors open at 5:30 p.m. at RHS gym. Cost for the camp is $25. Checks can be made out to the RHS Varsity Cheer.

Milano XC team runs in Salado, Brenham meets

Milano cross country runners competed in the Salado Tenroc Cross Country Invitational last Thursday: 197. Andy Gutierrez ran the 5K in 23:01 and 103. Abby Miller ran the two mile in 16:56.

Rockdale JV D holds Panthers to six points

The Rockdale junior varsity defeated the Hyde Park Panthers 24-6 Thursday in Austin. The Tigers got a lot on the board fast with two Bryce Miller touchdown runs in the first quarter. The first was for 10 yards, and the second was for 12.
