LIVING LEGEND—Cindy Key owner/master instructor of Central Texas Martial Arts recently won first in Japanese/ Okinawa open hand Kata division and then went on to win the grand championship in Kata. She was awarded a Power of Women Living Legend award by the National Sports Karate Museum in Houston.

Blaydn Barcak (1) sparked a Tiger drive in the first half of the game against Burnet in Thorndale with a 25-yard pass to Mason Willard. The RJH Tigers played their home game in Thorndale on Thursday, so the varsity would be the first team to play in the new Tiger Stadium.

Three Rockdale Junior High School Tiger football teams lost to the Burnet Bulldog teams on Thursday in Thorndale. The eight grade A had a tough battle as they looked to fill the voids left by four injured players,” said Eric Willard, coach.

Leader of the pack

Milano’s Parker Jones won his fourth consecutive District 25-2A title and the Thorndale boys and girls cross country teams finished in first place at the cross country meet in Gause. All will compete in regionals. Jones first place finish clocked in at 16:23.

RJH eighth grade volleyball A team wins tournament

Last year’s seventh grade Rockdale Junior High School Volleyball Tournament winners took the crown again as eighth graders on Saturday at RJH gym. The Lady Tigers faced the Gateway Lady Buffalos in the championship game of the tournament.

Teen titans, go!

For the past two weeks the Rockdale Tigers have been preparing to play a brand new team in a brand new stadium. During their bye week, players focused on improving their offense, setting up house and getting healthy, according to Jeff Miller, head coach and athletic director.

RHS runners aim for regionals during Saturday’s district meet

The Rockdale High School cross country team hopes to qualify runners for regionals for the first time since 2011, in Saturday’s UIL District 19-3A cross country meet in Cameron, Monday, Oct. 8. “We do have kids who should advance to regionals,” Head Coach Cheryl Darby said.
