Bulldogs take down Hearne Eagles 41-34

In a span of two minutes, Thorndale scored 21 points late in the fourth quarter to defeat Hearne 41-34. The Bulldogs improved to 4-1 in District 13-2A DI for second place behind Holland and Hearne dropped to 2-2 in a tie for third with Milano.

Lady Bulldogs advance to area

Thorndale is headed to the second round of the playoffs for the second year in a row, defeating the Lady Yeguas in a tiebreaker 20-25, 25-5, 25-27, 25-22, 15-1 in Giddings Tuesday evening. “It wasn’t the prettiest of wins,” said Angelene Raines, Thorndale High School head volleyball coach.

Rockdale Country Club held its annual Club Championship Golf Tournament Oct. 13. The winners were: Super Senior Division: John Magee -156; Frank Amyx -161. Super Senior Handicap: Monroe Jungmann -144; Willis Brewer -147. Senior Division: Joe Wayne Cleveland -168. Senior Handicap: Raymon Puente -153.

Eagles passing games snags 38-13 win over Marlin

The Milano Eagle offense put up 365 yards in a 38-13 victory over the Marlin Bulldogs Friday night at Pruitt Field. “We were able to run the ball well and had some big plays in the passing game,” said Chad Lagrone, Milano High School head football coach.

Playoff contest ends for Eagles

The Lady Eagles dropped out of the District 2A playoffs with a loss to the Snook Blue Jays 20-25, 24-26, 20-25, on Monday evening at the Caldwell High School gym.

Tiger JV beats Cameron Yoe on final play

Tiger running back Chris Vargas scored the game-winning touchdown in Thursday night’s junior varsity game against the Cameron Yoemen in Rockdale.

Bragging rights battle

The Tiger football team is coming into the sixty-fourth annual Battle of the Bell with a sense of urgency. “This is my thirteenth time coaching this game, and we still try to approach it as another district game,” said Jeff Miller, Rockdale High School head football coach and athletic director.
