The following items are compiled from recent Texas Parks and Wildlife Department law enforcement reports. Lost and found While patrolling for hunting violations recently, a San Jacinto County game warden came upon a vehicle in the Sam Houston National Forest.

Tigers learn lessons in first tournament

In their first tournament of the 2018-19 season, the Rockdale Tigers learned valuable lessons, struggled against all class 4A teams and made the consolation round finals at the Lexington Tournament last weekend.

The Lions met the Panthers at Tiger Stadium on Friday. The Burton Panthers defeated the Granger Lions 47-7 in their Region 3A semi-final game. This was the second playoff game Rockdale hosted at the new field.

Lady Tigers capture third in Lexington

The RHS girl’s basketball team took home the third place trophy after going 3-1 in the Lexington Tournament. “I thought we did pretty well,” said Meredith Caffey, RHS girl’s head basketball coach.

Eleven Tigers make all-district first team

Twenty-four members of the 2018 Rockdale Tiger football team were selected to 38 different spots on the 10-3A Division I all-district teams. This included 11 players picked to the first team, six to the second team, seven honorable mentions and 13 members selected to the academic all-district team.

RJH boys win Thorndale tourney

The seventh grade ‘A’ team had a dominant weekend at the Thorndale Tournament with a first place finish. The eighth grade ‘A’ also made it to the championship game by placing second. In Thorndale, the seventh grade squad blasted Granger 74-3.

Eagles face injuries at Lexington tourney

The Milano Eagles boys basketball team had an injury-plagued weekend in their 0-3 performance at the Lexington Tournament. In their first game, Milano fell 54-28 to Lexington. The Eagles led for most of the first quarter, trailing 18-13 to the mean green at the end of the opening quarter.

Thirteen Bulldogs, two Eagles make 2A all-district first team in football

In district 13-2A DI, 25 student athletes from Milano and Thorndale received all-district honors. Milano – Devonte Jones and Christian Thurman made the first team on offense. Kathen Funburg, Kevin Garcia and Jones as a punt returner made the offensive second team.

Bulldogs place fourth in Salado

The Thorndale High School boys basketball team placed fourth in their first tournament of the season in Salado. “The tournament went great,” said John Kovar, THS boy’s head basketball coach. “We played big schools and competed pretty well.
