Funburg dominates, Eagles fly right over Rosebud-Lott, 35-28

Quarterback Kathen Fun-burg’s four scoring passes, one touchdown and 12 tackles helped the Eagles defeat Rosebud-Lott 35-28 to clinch a spot in the 2018 2A UIL state playoffs. “We had some big plays early in the game,” said Chad Lagrone, Milano High School head football coach.

Second fastest in the state

Milano High School senior Parker Jones placed second at the UIL 2A State Cross Country Championship in Round Rock on Saturday. Jones ran a time of 15:29.58 in the 5,000 meter, four seconds behind winner Steven Quintanilla of Sundown.

Dawgfight in Thorndale

A well-rested Thorndale squad takes on a Marlin team that is coming off a 59-7 loss to Hearne last Friday. Kickoff for the game at Bulldog Stadium is at 7:30 p.m.

Rare golfing feat Richard Towns of Rock-dale accomplished a rare golfing feat at the Rock-dale Country Club on Sunday, Oct. 28. The 67 year-old Towns shot a five under par 67. His personal best is a 65, which he shot in 1997.

Rockdale JV forces three fumbles in win over Jarrell

The JV Tiger defense took advantage of the Cougars and built a 20-0 lead in the first half of Thursday’s game that Jarrell never recovered. Rockdale defeated the Jarrell Cougars 34-12. “Our kids played hard and made plays on both sides of the ball,” said Coach David Monroe.

Teamwork gets Lady Bulldogs into 2A regional semifinals

The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs swept the Snook Lady Bluejays 25-23, 25-18, 29-27 on Tuesday night in Hearne to advance to the regional semi-finals. “Our motto was to be resilient,” said Angelene Raines, Thorndale High School head volleyball coach. “And we were just that.

All three Rockdale junior high teams take down Jarrell Cougars

The Rockdale Junior High eighth grade A team fought to beat the Jarrell Cougars 32-20 after being down 13-0 in the first quarter. The Tigers chipped away at the Cougar lead when Robert Owens scored on a 15-yard touchdown run before the end of the quarter.

And they did!

No trouble obeying this command at the Cameron-Rockdale game. The annual Battle of the Bell drew an SRO crowd to Yoe Field Friday night as the Rockdale stands responded to the pleas of cheerleaders (L-R) Cady Barcak, Jena Locklin, Makaliah Huff, Eve King and Hannah Lehmkuhl.
