Junior high teams battle opponents, weather at home

Rockdale Junior High School football teams battled a tough opponent and adverse weather conditions in their first games at the new Tiger Stadium. The Troy Trojans handed the eighth grade A team it’s second district loss 24-8 on Thursday, according to Coach Eric Willard.

JV Tigers block field goal for win

The Rockdale junior varsity football team blocked a game-winning field goal to beat the Troy Trojans 8-7 for their second victory in District 10-3A play and their first in the new Tiger Stadium on Thursday evening. The Tigers got behind early when Troy went up 7-0 in the first quarter.

Lady Tigers vying for spot in district race

Two victories helped in the RHS Lady Tigers, fight to stay in the District 19-3A playoff race. RHS is tied with Rogers for fourth place with its 6-6 record. On Friday, the Lady Tigers traveled to McGregor and swept the Lady Bulldogs 25-20, 25-15, 25-14 for the second time.

RHS JV battle against Vikings ends in draw

The Rockdale Tiger junior varsity’s first game at Tiger Stadium ended in a 26-26 tie to Lago Vista, after the team trailed by two touchdowns at halftime. This is the Tigers second tie of the season. The first was against Caldwell 22-22 in September.

Milam County showdown

The Thorndale Bulldogs are looking for revenge, because last year they lost their opening game 47-28 to the Eagles at Pruitt Field in Milano. This year, Thorndale will face off against the Eagles at Bulldog Stadium at 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Eagles lose homecoming in close game to Hearne

At the Milano High School homecoming, the Eagles fell to Hearne 27-21 in the final quarter of the game. “We were able to have great success for three quarters,” said Chad Lagrone, Milano High School head football coach. The beginning of the game was almost as eventful as the chaotic fourth quarter.
