Eagles take down Tigers in district 13-2A opener

Like last year’s game against Thrall, the Milano Eagles pulled off a one-point victory 14-13 in a matchup that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats for over 20 minutes. In 2017, the Eagles beat the Tigers 7-6.

Bulldogs blast past Rosebud-Lott

A 333-yard offensive rushing game and 26-points in the second quarter helped Thorndale roll past Rosebud-Lott 40-7 Friday in the Bulldog’s first District 13-2A D1 game of the season. THS Head Football Coach Scott Hawkins said eliminating mistakes helped in the Thorndale victory.

VOLLEYBALL GAMES

THORNDALE - The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs defeated the Granger Lady Lions 25-13, 25-19, 25-14 at the Bulldog Gymnasium on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs were led at the net by Landri Leschber and Maddie Smith. Leschber had 12 kills and 10 assists. Smith had 12 kills with 11 digs.

RJH football teams battle Robinson

The RJH eighth grade A team fell to Robinson 42-0 Thursday, after a series of injuries. “Three key injuries hampered their efforts on both sides of the ball, but the Tigers continued to play hard,” Eric Willard said junior high school football coach.

RHS standout sets TLU team-high catches record

Former Rockdale High School three-year letterman and all-district football player, Pearce Loth set a single-game, career best for catches record during Texas Lutheran University’s 47-14 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Sept. 22.

NEW DIGS

NEW DIGS—The defending state champion Rockdale Tigers will suit out in a new field house Friday before tangling with Manor New Tech. The field house received a complete makeover as part of stadium renovation. It was a popular part of last week’s open house.

MINI CAMP

MINI CAMP—Rockdale High School cheerleaders held a mini-camp for youngsters ages pre-K through fifth grade Thursday. Those participating will cheer on the sidelines of the new Tiger Stadium during the first quarter of the Rockdale-Jarrell game Nov. 2.

Tigers take on new team in new stadium

With two state championships and nine out of the last 10 seasons in the playoffs, Tiger football has been painted as a legacy. Compare that to their first district opponent Manor New Tech, who will be playing its first ever district game on Friday, Oct. 5.
