Eagles face injuries at Lexington tourney

The Milano Eagles boys basketball team had an injury-plagued weekend in their 0-3 performance at the Lexington Tournament. In their first game, Milano fell 54-28 to Lexington. The Eagles led for most of the first quarter, trailing 18-13 to the mean green at the end of the opening quarter.

Thirteen Bulldogs, two Eagles make 2A all-district first team in football

In district 13-2A DI, 25 student athletes from Milano and Thorndale received all-district honors. Milano – Devonte Jones and Christian Thurman made the first team on offense. Kathen Funburg, Kevin Garcia and Jones as a punt returner made the offensive second team.

For the second consecutive year, the Thorndale Bulldogs found themselves at D.W. Rutledge Stadium in Converse in the area round of the UIL 2A DI state football playoffs outmatched by the Refugio Bobcats.

The evolution of Parker Jones

Training to be a state champion runner doesn’t happen overnight and Milano High School’s Parker Jones is a case in point. “Running didn’t really start early for me,” he said.

Cindy Key, owner master instructor of Rockdale’s Central Texas Martial Arts School is included in the book “The Worlds Greatest Martial Artists: The Sensational 600” by Ted Gambordella. Her instructor Soke Mike Fillmore is also included in the book.

Lady Tigers fall to Lady Bulldogs

The Rockdale Lady Tigers lost 46-32 to Thorn-dale on Monday during their Thanksgiving break. The Lady Tigers ended the first quarter trailing by three to a team that made the regional quarterfinals in class 2A, but were set back in the second quarter when the Lady Bulldogs went on a 18-4 run.
