Lady Tigers grab all-district honors Seven Lady Tiger hoopsters were awarded District 19-3A honors for this season. Sophomore Anna Harmon was named to the first team and Andrea Salazar made the second team. Honorable mentions from RHS were Payton Miller and Miah Beckwith.

Relays bring 16 schools to town this weekend

Since the turn of the 20th Century, the Rockdale Relays have been bringing top notch athletes to the area to compete. This year’s Rockdale track and field team will play host to the 60th Rockdale Relays at the new Tiger Stadium on Friday and the competition is just as stiff as in years past.

Tiger golfers fourth out of 22 schools in Brenham

The Rockdale Tiger golf team had another good week on the green, placing fourth out of 22 schools at Brenham Golf Tournament on Monday. “It went really well,” said Coach Ethan Noel. “It was really good for us to see the course that we’ll get to play on the future.

Lady Tigers christen new softball field with a victory

At the grand opening of the new Lady Tiger Softball Field, RHS got hot in the third and fifth inning to defeated the Lady Yoe 11-8 in their District 19-3A opener. “So we kind of had a disappointing Saturday at the tournament,” said Erin Palmer, RHS head softball coach.

Bulldogs going to regionals

The Thorndale Bulldogs are heading to regionals after defeating the Normangee Panthers 62-38 at Franklin High School on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs controlled the game from the beginning, leading 33-18 at halftime.

Tigers soccer teams downed by Ducks

The Rockdale Tiger soccer team went into the second half of its soccer match against last year’s state semi-finalist Taylor tied 0-0 before falling 3-0 on Friday at home. “Our guys did outstanding,” said Gilberto Rodriguez, Rockdale High School soccer coach.

Powerlifters amp up for regionals Eight Rockdale High School and six Thorndale High School powerlifters will represent their respective schools at the upcoming regional qualifiers meets next month.

Making history: First black THS grid coach

A former Rockdale High School grid standout has made some history in a nearby town. Deron Clay is the first African-American football coach at Thorndale High School. Clay is a 1986 RHS graduate and is an assistant football coach and strength and conditioning coach at Thorndale.

Tigers blank Cameron

In their first ever match-up with rival Cameron, the Tigers came out on top of the high energy 1-0 victory last Friday. “There were some times where I thought we missed opportunities to create a bigger lead,” said Gilberto Rodriguez, Rockdale High School head soccer coach.

Comeback kids:

The Rockdale Lady Tigers had two come from behind wins in their 4-2 performance at the Killeen Tournament this past weekend, getting all sorts of game experience essential to their upcoming District 19-3A schedule, according to head coach Erin Palmer.
