Annual Fair is way of life for long-time volunteer

The Rockdale Reporter recently sat down with longtime Rockdale Fair Association volunteer James Birk-head to discuss the history of the Rockdale Fair and his accomplishments.

BIG BLUE AWARD

Recently, the Big Blue Band traveled to Brenham to participate at the Blinn College Buccaneer Marching Festival. Director Adrian Acevedo said The band received top ratings for music and overall effect and came in 2nd Place in class 3A.

ROCKDALE CHRISTIAN SERVICES

CS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

Ag fundraiser drawing set for Saturday

MILANO NEWS This is the last day to get your “freezer full of meat” tickets. The Milano/Gause Ag Booster Club is selling tickets as a fall fundraiser. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Prize includes 7 cu. ft. freezer, processed pig, turkey, and chicken, along with processing cost cuts.

Reporter/Wynton Thomason Sabrina Pantaleon was named the 2019 Rockdale High School Homecoming Queen during halftime of Friday’s football game at Tiger Stadium. She is the daughter of Guillermo and Susan Pantaleon.

Old Friends Annual Gathering

Pictured above are members of the Old Friends Annual Gathering which was held Tues., Oct. 8 at the Rockdale Country Club. The group was founded in 2011 by the late Leon Wenzel who was a member of the 1959-1962 American Legion Baseball Team.
