All is cool in the pool

Going clockwise, starting in the top left corner: Kylie Reynolds, Harlo Mankin, Wyatt Glass and Milam Giles escape the heat by swimming some laps during the Wake Aquatics Swim-A-Thon, an event that took place at Veterans Memorial Park this past Saturday in Rockdale. Members of the Rockdale-based swim club hopped in the pool to help raise money for future competitions and amenities needed to help improve their program. Wake member Emma Blackwell led the way with 250 laps, which covers a distance of more than three miles. The team competes next on Saturday at the TAAF Regional Qualifier Meet in Bryan. Last season, the crew had 19 members qualify for the state competition. Reporter/Wynton Thomason
