Lady Tigers reel off three straight

It has been feast or famine for the Rockdale Lady Tigers, but here lately, they have been chowing down on league opponents. The Lady Tigers clobbered Franklin 11-2 on a sun-splashed Wednesday afternoon in a District 20-3A spring break contest to with their third straight game.

Tigers put on rally caps in league losses

The Rockdale Tigers may have dropped a couple of district games, but did not go down without a fight. The Tigers lost to Lexington 10-7 Tuesday night on top of an 8-6 loss to Franklin Friday at Tiger Field. Rockdale drops to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in District 20-3A.

No. 1 Dawgs remain perfect in league play with victory

Coming off a tough run in the competitive Forsan Tournament, the Thorn-dale Bulldogs returned to district play Tuesday night with a 9-1 victory over Rosebud-Lott. The N0. 1 ranked Bullsogs improved to 13-3-1 overall and 3-0 in district play.

Bulldogs named All-State

Three Thorndale basketball players were named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 2A All-State team. On the boys side, 6-foot-5 guards Ty Prince and Sam Reaves were named to the team for the second straight season.

Mitchell commits to North Texas; named first-team all-conference

WACO—Rockdale’s Velma Mitchell was named a fi rst-team North Texas JCAC all-conference selection for McClennan Community College. The 5-foot-9 sophomore averaged 15.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.4 steals in Mitchell conference for the 14-14 Highlassies.

No. 2 Lady Dogs move to 5-0 in district play

Thorndale pitchers teamed up and didn’t allow a single hit in a 19-0 victory over Bremond to move to 5-0 in district play for the No. 2 ranked Lady Dogs. The offense was boosted by sophomore Jayci Martinka who went 4-4 from the plate.
