Tigers remain winless in district standings

Despite their best efforts, the Rockdale Tigers still have not been able to secure that first district victory. The Tigers (4-10 overall, 0-7 in District 20-3A) dropped a pair of league contests to Jarrell, 10-4 and Academy, 13-4.

It’s unanimous: both Dog and Lady Dogs No. 1 in state

After simmering under the top spot in the state for weeks, the Thorndale Lady Dogs have joined the Bulldog baseball team atop the state polls. The 17-1-1 Lady Dogs vaulted to the No. 1 ranking in this week’s Class 2A Texas Girls Coaches Association poll after several weeks at No. 2.

Aycock presence missing from PVIL Hall

Had a great visit with Prairie View Interscholastic League chairman Robert Brown at the recent UIL state basketball tournament where the PVIL had a display on its history and I reminded him that despite Aycock’s place in history, there wasn’t one single Aycock athlete in the PVIL Hall of Fame.

No. 1 Bulldogs maintain status with decisive wins

The Thorndale Bulldogs maintained their status at the No. 1 team in Class 2A with a couple of decisive run-rule wins in district play. The Bulldogs improved to 15-3-1 on the season and 5-0 in league play.

Lady Tigers hanging on to playoff possibilities

It’s been fi ve years since the Rockdale Lady Tigers have entered the state playoffs, but they have put themselves in position to remedy that fact as the second half of district play begins.

The Rockdale Tigers have yet to scratch the win column in District 20-3A play as hard luck losers, dropping all fi ve league games by a total of only 11 runs. It shows they have a lot of fi ght, no matter what the outcome.
