No. 2 Lady Dogs batter Bartlett

Riley White didn’t allow a single run and just one hit as the No. 2 Thorndale Lady Dogs defeated Bartlett 16-0 on Tuesday to improve to 9-1-1. White also led the Lady Dogs to victory by driving in five runs, going 2-for-2 at the plate.

Miller releases 2018 football schedule

The Rockdale Tigers have added a couple of old friends to their new schedule that Jeff Miller has finalized. The defending Class 3A state champions will host Giddings in the 2018 season opener and then travel to Caldwell the next week.

Rockdale powerlifters head to regional meets

The Rockdale powerlifting team will be sending seven lifters to the regional meet. Girls Autumn Montelongo, Mackenzie Musto, Carlee Morgan, Whitley Boyd and boys Jeovanny Navarro, Nathan Jeter and Wyatt Chambers are representing the Tigers.

Tiger standout Leon Wenzel dead at 73

An all-around athlete known for his pitching prowess, Leon Wenzel has passed away at age 73. A 1962 RHS graduate, Wenzel earned 11 letters in baseball, basketball, football and track.

Whenever someone talks about changing the rules in a professional sport, I am always reminded of James Naismith’s 13 original rules of basketball. Here’s just a couple of examples from the 1891 journal. There was a jump ball after every basket.
