Thursday night was the night to recognize the best of the best student-athletes of Rockdale High School for their talent, hard work, sportsmanship and contributions to community and team at the 2023 Spring Athletic Banquet. Here are the winners of some of the awards presented last week.

Lady Eagles fall to Weimar

BRENHAM—The Milano varsity softball team’s season came to an end last weekend at the regional semi-finals with two losses to perennial powerhouse, the Weimar Wildcats. Weimar is currently ranked No. 2 in the state in 2A.

July 4th plans under way at Chamber

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center is the host for this year’s Fourth of July celebration for Milam County. Working in collaboration with Cameron Chamber of Commerce, the event will be held at Fair Park starting at 6 p.m.

AUSTIN—At the UIL Class 2A state track meet, Thorndale junior Carson McCoy blazed his way to a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.79. Teammate and fellow junior, Jack Herzog soared to a height of 14’-6” in the pole vault.
