Youngest in the game: Milano grad to lead on gridiron

In July of 2018, Milano High School quarterback Kathen Funburg was preparing for his senior season. Three years and two states later, he is now the youngest head football coach in the United States after accepting the job at Oklahoma’s Prue High School earlier this month.

RJH golfers tee off Tuesday

RHS alumni all in for Alex

On Saturday evening, Rockdale High School had their first ever alumni game at the Lady Tiger softball field with an opening ceremony prior to the game and a closing ceremony before an after party at The Ranch.

Brooks running toward bigger and better things

As a high school student, Daniel Brooks was known for being the fastest kid everywhere he went. At RHS, he won a 2011 Class 3A state championship in the 100-meter dash his junior year.

Just keep swimming

ALUMNI SOFTBALL

ALUMNI SOFTBALL—This Saturday, the Lady Tiger Softball Field will host the Rockdale Alumni Softball game to help raise money for the Rockdale Girls Softball League. The opening ceremony will be at 5:30 p.m., with the actual game starting at six.

Heintze to lead offense at Taylor

Things changed for Pete Heintze in the early spring when he received a phone call from former Rockdale assistant Brandon Houston. Houston told Heintze that he had been offered the head coaching job at Taylor High School and wanted the 25-year-old to be his offensive coordinator.

RHS alum hired to lead the Herd

In June, Rockdale’s Morgan Laughlin announced via Facebook that she was named the head volleyball coach at Florence High School. “I’m super excited to get started in Florence,” she said. “I’ve seen the potential in these girls over the past couple of years in previous coaching positions.

RCC holding youth golf tourney later this month

Rockdale’s Country Club has a youth golf tourney scheduled for Tuesday, July 20. The event, which is for junior high-aged golfers, will start at 8:45 a.m., and has three flights.
