MHS ‘18 grads killin’ it at college

Things have been looking pretty good for Milano High School Class 0f 2018 graduates Tim Demeritt Jr., and Kyle King. On Feb. 25, Demeritt won a gold medal for Prairie View A&M University at the Southwest Conference Championship as well as a bronze in the mile relay.

MHS opens district with comeback win

Last Tuesday, Milano’s Lady Eagle softball team opened up district with a comeback victory on the road over Holland 19-15. The maroon-and-gold trailed 13-9 in the top of the seventh when Milano filled the bases with no outs and got hits from Karyme Santana, Toni Meyer, Zoe Clore.

Talbott stays on course for RHS RHS freshman Alyssa Talbott was the lone Lady Tiger golfer these past two weeks. During the last week of February, Talbott traveled to Wimberley where she shot a 129. On Monday, she shot a 128 at the Brenham tourney.

Young Dawgs look to build consistency

Going into his 15th season as Thorndale’s head baseball coach, Kelly Kuhl has a roster with junior Logan Davis as the player with varsity experience. “Overall, we are young and inexperienced,” Kuhl said. “Not getting to play last year really hurt us experience wise.

Lady Dogs take on rival Thrall

Lady Dog sluggers had an eventful weekend at the Brenham Tournament. They started out Thursday in Navasota due to low field availability and first faced Montgomery’s Lake Creek and although they lost 14-1, sophomore Raeghan Carlson homered in the second inning.

Alcala wins gold at Bremond meet

Opening the season at Bremond last Wednesday, six varsity athletes from Milano High School left the meet as medalists. Sophomore Gael Alcala won the boys 800-meter run with a time of 2:26 while Andy Gutierrez ez placed second in the mile with a time of 5:40.44.

62nd ROCKDALE RELAYS

For Tiger head track coach Lewis Edmonson, the 62nd Rockdale Relays will be a unique event, and not just because only four teams are allowed to compete due to the UIL’s COVID-19 protocols. “This year is more different than any other year,” Edmonson said.
