Thorndale’s Kovar says ‘bonjour’ to Paris

On Sunday, Thorndale High School softball player Kelsey Kovar announced her verbal commitment to play at Paris Junior College following her graduation in 2022.

MHS softball 2-2 in district play

Although the Lady Eagles opened up spring break with a 14-1 loss on the road, the young MHS squad is 2-2 in district play with wins over Holland and most recently Rosebud-Lott.

Kylberg racks up awards at region

On Thursday, Thorndale powerlifter Hayden Kylberg left regionals in Lumberton as not only a state qualifier with a gold medal in his division, but as the outstanding lifter on heavy platforms for the bench press and the dead lift. His coach Hudson Evans said he was proud of Kylberg.

RHS hoopers earn all-district honors

Earlier this month, more than a dozen Rockdale High School basketball players received all-district awards. For the Tigers, senior Raymond McBride was named to the first-team while sophomore Chris Perez and freshman Wyatt Windham were voted on to the second team.

Staying at home: Nine win gold

Following the conclusion of the 63rd annual Rockdale Relays, Tiger track coach Lewis Edmonson was satisfied with how his team competed. “It was pretty darn good,” Edmonson said. “I think with everything that went down that everyone performed pretty well.

RHS keeps Giddings busy Saturday

Although Saturday afternoon didn’t end with a Rockdale victory, the Tiger soccer team didn’t hang their head after a 2-1 loss to Giddings, the top team in District 19-4A.

Tigers go 3-1 in Bremond tourney

Over the weekend, Rockdale’s baseball team picked up three wins, with 9-1 and 6-4 victories over Waco’s Texas Wind and Bryan’s Brazos Christian School on Thursday and a 8-2 dub over Jewett-Leon Friday. The Tigers’ only loss was to Mumford 10-3 following the Leon game.

Fantastic Four headed for state meet

Rockdale’s Lady Tiger powerlifting team was anything but empty-handed when they came home Saturday from the Region III meet in Dublin.
