M-Town takes down Thorndale, 55-49

It looked as if Milano’s six-point lead was going to be erased when Thorndale junior Chance Betak hit two layups and a free throw to make the game 45-44, but in the final two minutes, the Eagles came through for the home crowd in the final game of their 2020- 21 season.

RHS tourney canceled

Last Tuesday, the Lady Tigers got their first win of the season with a 9-3 victory over Taylor at RHS. The teams were tied at two for much of the game until a Jena Locklin double in the bottom of the fourth brought in a fellow Lady Tiger and made the game 3-2.

Johnson passes away, at 90

On Friday afternoon, RHS alum Glenn Johnson announced via Facebook that his father, Fred Johnson, the second winningest coach in RHS history and the man behind Rockdale’s first ever state championship, passed away at the age of 90.

Tigers defeat Caldwell 3-0 in freezing cold

Enduring below freezing temperatures and winds blowing more than 13 miles per hour didn’t stop the Tigers when they took down Caldwell Friday afternoon.

Lady Commanches outshine THS, 44-34

Lady Bulldog basketball came to an end Friday afternoon when THS fell to an aggressive Shiner team 44-34 in Fayetteville. Shiner, who THS coach Bradley Dickerson said was an athletic team that could get to the basket, led right away and went into half time up 24-13.

Inside the Hornets’ nest

Rockdale went into Friday night’s season finale at Caldwell without four starters including senior guards D’Erika Hurd and Miah Beckwith, sophomore post Julie Bartsch and junior post Karli Marburger, who hadn’t played since her team faced Caldwell on Jan. 12.

Signing day the Tiger way

With the flick of a pen, Rockdale’s Ty Mayberry (pictured below) and Anthony Dansby (above) were officially committed to their future colleges with hopes of furthering their studies and playing football at the next level.

Tiger soccer beats Cameron in tie-breaker

As the match was tied at four, Rockdale’s fifth ever game against rival Cameron came down a sudden death kick, where each team had to select one player to attempt a goal to decide the victor. For RHS, coach Gilberto Rodriguez called on Tyler Thomas to knock in a goal, which he ended up doing.

Young Tigers grow against big Caldwell team

Like the Lady Tigers, the Tigers were also without many of their starters when they fell to Caldwell 78-54 Friday. RHS had nine players suit up in the Blue-and-Gold including A.J Hicks, Aiden Hirt and Mason Willard, who were called up from the junior varsity for the game against the Hornets.
