Rockdale High School powerlifting’s award-filled year came to a close in Corpus Christi Thursday with senior Mackenzie Musto taking home a bronze medal, Alondra Rubio placing fifth, Jesenia Navarro finishing in eighth and Jena Locklin ending the meet in 12th.

Earlier this month, former Rockdale athlete Ross Loth was named to the Academic Dean’s List at Fort Worth’s Texas Wesleyan University after obtaining a 4.0 grade-point average this semester. The Class of 2020 graduate was a starting wide receiver for the Tigers with 20.

Tiger soccer back in playoffs for second time in three years

On Friday night, two significant things happened for the Tiger soccer team. First, they avenged a February loss to Smithville by beating them 2-1 on their own field. Second, the win guaranteed Rockdale their second trip to the post-season in their fourth year of existence.

Although the Tiger baseball team went without a win at their own tournament, they put up a fight. They started off on Thursday morning with a 6-2 loss to Holland, a Class 2A school that has runruled their opponents in a third of their games this season.
