Memories of Tiger Field come pouring out

As construction workers scurry around the rubble that used to be Tiger Field, memories wash over me as I consider all the time I have spent there as athlete, fan and writer. My memories of Tiger Field are not all pleasant.

Out with the old, in with the new

Out with the old, in with the new. Spurred by the Tigers state football championship in December, Tiger stadium is going through a $5 million dollar renovation which will include a brand new football field, track and updates to the field house locker room.

Rolling Sevens

The Rockdale 7-on-7 team competed in the Cuero qualifying tournament Saturday and although they went 2-1, did not advance out of pool play.

Clark to host agility camp on July 14

Le’Raven Clark will be hosting a free agility camp Saturday, July 14. The former Rockdale star and current Indianapolis Colt lineman will hold the 2nd annual camp at the junior high field beginning at 8 a.m. and lasting until 2 p.m. To register, got to totalcamps.com/fundamentals/camps/2018mak camp.

Swimming holes have changed a little bit

Trying to escape the stifling heat, I recently took the grandson Reese to Murphy Park in Taylor which features a state of the art wading pool and spacious competition pool. Very nice.

LIZ LEDGER Liz Galloway-McQuitter has always been a trailblazer in whatever she was involved in. Now all her efforts will be validated on a larger level.

BASEBALL PLAYOFFS 2018 BRENHAM—For the second straight weekend, Thorndale found itself in the unenviable position of having to win two games on Saturday to keep its season alive. While the Bulldogs successfully climbed that mountain last week, this time, it was too steep to conquer.

Class of 2018 is special in more ways than one

While this space is usually reserved for athletic exploits, I’d like to bring your attention to something academic. We are all quite familiar with Gunner Miller’s story—his fight with cancer and recovery—and his Cinderella appearance in the state championship game.
