Bulldogs dominate in playoff series

LLANO—The Thorndale Bulldogs dominated Sonora with two shutout wins—12-0 and 9-0—to win the bi-dis-trict round of the playoffs last week.

Bulldog track sends two to state meet

KINGSVILLE—Thorndale’s Carson McCoy sped to second-place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.71 and, in doing so, he qualified to run at the 2A state track championships, currently scheduled for May 12.

Tigers close baseball season with 2 losses

Tigers baseball finished the season on a sour note by dropping their final two games of the year—the first, a 7-0 loss to Cameron Yoe and then they fell to Little River-Academy 3-2 in the season finale. RHS ends with an overall record of 13-14, 5-9 in district.

RJH tennis competes in Thrall tourney

THRALL—The Rockdale Junior High tennis team had numerous wins and strong performances at the Thrall Junior High tournament last Saturday.

RHS track season comes to an end at Region III track meet

HEWITT—Though none of the Tigers were able to qualify for state track in Austin later this month, there were some solid performances at the Class 3A Region III track meet held at Midway Panther Stadium in Hewitt, capping off an overall strong season for the Blue and Gold track program.

Nelson wins ASC honors

ALEXANDRIA, LA— Rockdale High School graduate and Howard Payne University senior golfer Brady Nelson III was named American Southwest Conference Co-Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year. This is Nelson’s second consecutive year to receive the honors.

Tigers baseball eliminated from playoff contention

The Blue and Gold had a rough week against two tough opponents. TROY— On April 18, the Tigers traveled to Troy to take on the district- leading Trojans and lost 11-0 in 5 innings. Junior shortstop Mario Casarez, went for 2 for 2 at the plate. ROGERS— On Friday, Rockdale lost at home to Rogers, 10-1.

Rockdale’s Stevens, Hicks take first place to advance to regionals
