Spring Break In Rockdale

While school might have not been in session this past week, Rockdale still had some stuff going on around town. On Thursday, area resident Tymon Locklin held a free football came on the practice field outside of Tiger Stadium. The camp was originally intended to be a birthday present for Rockdale Junior High seventh grader Luke Olivares, but ultimately evolved into a football camp for area youth. On Saturday, the Noon Lions Club held their fundraiser and tournament at the Rockdale Country Club. A team made up of Matt Sanders, Kerry Fletcher, Matt Langwell, Randy Fletcher and Joe Sanders, won first. Longest drive was hit by Anthony Layne (155 yards) and Randy Gilliland got closest to the hole. The golf ball drop, which is normally done from the door of a helicopter, was done by member Paul Dixon while walking on the green with a blindfold covering his eyes due to the pilot having a last minute emergency. Winner of the $500 prize was James Wilson.Submitted photos
