Fishing conditions around Central Texas

Austin FAIR. Water clear; 73 degrees; 0.56 feet low. Fish are in the summer pattern on Lake Austin. Bass are fair on big swimbaits around deep docks and creek canals. Lady Bird Lake bass are good early morning using chrome jerk baits over grass. Catfish are good on jug-lines.

No luck for Lady Dogs in finals

NAVASOTA—Losing 2-0 in their Regional Finals series opener with Weimar on Wednesday evening, it seemed as if everything was going to plan for the Lady Dogs.

RHS sophomores earn first-team honors

District 19-3A picks were made public this weekend with Rockdale High School sophomores ores Mario Casarez and Mason Willard named to the fi r s t t e a m . Willard was selected as a pitcher and Casarez made the first team as an infielder.

Former Tiger coach honored

Earlier this spring, Hearne coach Lewis Edmonson was named Class 2A’s “Boys Assistant Coach of the Year,” being one of eight high school assistant boys’ basketball coaches in the state of Texas to win the award this year.

SUMMER SPORT CAMPS

This Monday, Rockdale High School will hold their girls basketball camp, the first of seven sports camps scheduled this summer at Rockdale ISD. Although the early registration date of May 25th has passed, students going into grades three through nine are still allowed to sign up.

Lady Dogs in the Elite Eight

LA GRANGE—Thorndale softball seemingly faced an uphill battle in their regional semi-final matchup with Ganado after falling to the Maidens, 2-1 in Wednesday’s series opener. However, the Lady Bulldogs were far from finished.

Bulldogs can’t outlast top-ranked Shiner

LA GRANGE—The Bulldogs struggled to find their rhythm in Friday’s game two of their Regional Quarterfinals series against Shiner, Class 2A’s highest ranked team in the latest Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association poll.

TIGER DAY INFO

On Monday, Rockdale Junior High will hold “Tiger Day,” which will honor RJH athletes in front of their families. The ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. in the RJH Gymnasium and there will be a cookout following the ceremony on the side of the school by the RJH tennis courts.
